1. Wikipedia explains body modification as deliberate altering of the human body for any non-medical reasons.  It lists the different kinds of modifications and has links to their pages as well as lists many people famous for the modifications they have done to their body.  It has a short section on the controversy the art causes. I will use this in my intro paragraph and when I talk about the controversy around the subject.

2.  This article talks about tattoos specifically.  It explains how tattoos, especially ones of young people, tell stories and have great meaning to them and getting a tattoo isn't just for shock value or to fit in.  I will use this when I explain the reasons people have behind body modification.

7. This is the best article I have found yet.  It defines what tattooing actually is and goes on to explain every reason why someone might get a tattoo.  It explains that the body is a canvas and a tattoo becomes a part of your body.  I will hopefully use this article a lot through out my paper.

8.  This is a Wikipedia page about plastic surgery.  It lists the different kinds of surgery's as well as what they are.  It tells the history of plastic surgery and defines it as the remolding of the skin. It also tells why people have surgery done to them.  I will use this when explaining the different types of body modification available.
