http://writing.mit.edu/wcc/resources/writers/introduction
Claim : Urban gardening in Detroit is a good revitalization plan because it improves the economy, beautifies the city and improves the livelihood of the citizens.
Our potential audience would be directed towards the entire Detroit and Metro Detroit citizens, including economists, farmers and environmentalists. One way to look into our audience would be to survey or interview people from each category.
TIPS ON RESEARCHING AND DRAFTING A BACKGROUND SECTION
PLANNING TEAM:
The author should start by exploring the scope of the plan by looking at other case studies where urban farming has been implemented in large cities. They should also look into the long term effects urban farming with respect to sustaineability, environmental effects, and economic benefits. Also the benefits/detriments should be analyzed considering legal actions required to implement the plan as well as if there is an actual economic benefit to urban farming instead of becoming subsistance farming.
