Claim: Electronic Dance Music is a genre that is growing in popularity rapidly due to an increase in media publicity. This genre's music scene is known as rave culture, similar to hippy culture in many ways, and provides economic benefits for metro areas as well as a good way for our generation to come together.

Audience: Those who are a part of this "rave culture" as well as others of our generation interested in this movement.

Opposing Side: Anyone who is not particularly fond of electronic music could be considered on the opposing side of this argument.

Tips on Researching and Drafting a Background Section

Planning Team

I will need to explore different reasons proving that EDM (Electronic Dance Music) is on the rise. I will start by evaluating popular trends in music now a days... For example, hip hop, rap, and r and b are hugely popular in America. One growing trend I have noticed is the use of famous DJ's making dance electronic music is appearing in this rap, hip hop, and r and b industry. There for these artists beats are being heard by the number 1 music consumers in America, and their names are in fact mentioned in the song's titles. I will then analyze the growing number of electronic music shows and festivals, and compare this to trends in the 70's where music festivals were huge, and similar music culture was being demonstrated. Rave culture vs. hippy culture, for example Woodstock vs. Electric Forest (two music festivals form now and then.) I will then explore the economic as well as social benefits that this rave culture provides for our metro are and our youth.
