Depression: The Mind, Body and Mood Disorder!

"All I see is Sadness and I feel so Alone. Even though my house is filled with many people. I only see an Empty Home" - Toma' Blue

Many may disagree and argue that depression isn't all that serious and that it is simply normal for people to go through, but what about the people who harm themselves or others do to their chronic sadness and unhappiness (Depression). I believe that depression isn't well known or understood by many. Proven facts and history of depression honeslty shows that harm can be done and will help many understand that depression isnt normal for you to go through and that help should be seeked. The people who know nothing or little about depression need to ask and answer these questions like; how is depression caused? What is Depression? And/or Why do many people suffer from it? Or Can it even be treatedable or even controlled?

Depression can be known as one of the most common mental illnesses in America. It is a mood disorder that causes people great sadness, which can leave you feeling guilty and unworthy. Depression can last weeks to years depending on when you’re diagnosed or even if you get treated. Another word to describe depression is known as, uni-polar meaning (one sided). “Depression is a whole body illness that affects the entire body as well as the mind”. Another definition for Depression could be that it is a serious health problem that affects feelings, thoughts and actions, and can appear as a physical illness. There is more to depression than people may think or even know; many forms of it exists. Depression can be a very dangerous thing, and with knowing the facts and the key results first, will help many who don't know what dpression is stay informed and aware.

Depression is known to strike down anyone, so therefore it does not discriminate on who it wants to victimize. It is said that Depression usually strikes in late teens or early adulthood because thats usually when more stress and worries arrive in ones life. Depression also happens to affect more females then males mainly because the stress levels for women are more higher than men. Males usually do not tend to seek help from anyone because they are ashamed or maybe afraid to reach out for help. The causes of depression and the effects are different depending on the age group or person. Depression in older adults effects more than 19 million Americans every year. The symptoms of depression can be triggered by other chronic illnesses that become common in an older adults later life, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, heart disease, cancer and arthritis. Depression in children can be from many things that come on into their lives. Some children may be bullied in school, see their parents get divorced or never get any affection at home. The signs can vary to different things to determine if a child has depression. These signs/symptoms can be a child lacking energy, persistent sadness, having agression towards others, feeling of worthlessness, having suicidal thoughts and physical complaints; like headaches and stomach pains. These are some serious signs that should not be ignored. In women, depression can have a very different toll on her and the symptoms are different as well. (will be finishing the womens depression gotta add to the males depression.)

 The Treatments For Depression

There are many treatments out there for depression.

  • Medicine Medicine can help ease the depression symptoms but the first medicine that you may take might not be the right one for you.  If the depression is still occuring it may just take time to kick in. But in the end if you need something different so the next step would be to talk to a Psychotherapist. They are trainedmental health professionals who help you talk about your mood and problems. Instead of keeping it all inside they wil help you shed light on the problems that are invading your life.

(gotta finish this section)

CONCLUSION

If Depression wasnt at all that important or even serious then there would be no need for those to seek professional help.

For those who didnt know depression is treatable with treatments such as therapy, medicine, and lifestyle changes, but sometimes those treatments fail to treat the patient and may only treat some of the symptoms. Therefore, Depression should never be overlooked as just a way of life. Harm can be done to the person dealing with depression and/or to the people who are around.
